Good night

My name is Nuno, I'm 28 and I'm from Portugal.
A year ago I was offered a 2003 APE 50 model ZAPC080 (motor pk xl2??) color white, of an elderly relative. Was stopped about 3 years in a shed. When I picked up, only took gasoline and started wonderfully well!

Which brings me to write this topic, is that my family gave me for Christmas a kit for the engine! Without my knowledge, they went to look at my notes of parts and accessories i would like to apply to the vehicle and offered me some! Since I follow this forum and others for some time and the greatest difficulty I have is that the information available is 90% Italian or German, which sometimes makes it impossible to access the correct information, even when using translators. I've gotten away more or less well!!

Now I have some doubts if the set will work well. The kit was purchased from the SIPSCOOTERSHOP, so I think they also have had technical advice. Description:

Racing Malossi 112cc cylinder kit

In the description of the cylinder, there is an advice:

"Crankcase ... Should be modified to fit the larger cylinder transfers. "

What does this mean? I'll have to do some milling? I thought the installation is plug & play!


I have other questions, but i will create other posts not to confuse!

it can be plug&play, but if you want more power, you have to work on the engine ;) you should open the engine and work a lot on the crankcase... if the cylinder transfers are like the transfers on the crankcase, the fuel will get better to the cylinder.

Hi Nuno :)

(In my humblest opinion) those streaming are too long for this cylinder..personally i prefer streaming 21/76 because (with the milling the crankcase) you can make the best performance of the cylinder..the carburetor is good...but i think that the Dell'Orto 21 Phbg is better :wink:

milling the crankcase it means to connect harmonically the decanting's crankcase with the decanting's cylinder (harmonically it means without "steps" and crankcase imperfection..)

if you don't understand..i'll try to explain it better, or you can try to understand the processes trough this video:

Hi, thanks for your comment. I will not modify crankcase or crankshaft ( at least, not for now ) as the 112cc as 43mm course ( short ).
1st i'll try do to this tuning and see how it works. Later if possible and if needed, i'll tune more!!

About cylinder transfers, once i split engine i'll see how it fit. Never done milling to a piaggio engine before, but the procedure should be the same as other 2 stroke engine.

Hi, thanks for your comment.
I did a lot of research about gear ratio / streaming and i find out, to the kind of ride i do and the uphills i have in my region 24/72 would be a good choice ( not the best, but a good one ).
I prefer more torque and power uphill rather high speed, because i already flip Ape 2 times!!! :twisted:

I'll take a note of your advise for further tuning if necessary!

About the milling ( video ), we have a different name in Portugal, but is the same thing!!

Next week i'll start disassemble engine and do the mods.

will i have any benefit, changing 4th gear to shorter one??

I will change few things from my original post:

Cranskshaft: DRT C45
Spacer: 1mm
GT: matched with cases
intake port: elongated 2 or 3mm, not extended
collector/intake manifold: handmade
Carb: dellorto phbl 24 AD
air filter/box: Malossi Red E13
gearbox: original
streaming: i have 24/72. some of you say 21/76 would be better. other say 22/63.
Input shaft / cluster: DRT 4th short 23 teeth ( link below )

so, this said... what do you thing guys?? I really appreciate your best opinions!!!

one more question, if i want to change 4th gear, what should i buy to do that modification???

you should buy the PHBL ;) for the fourth gear, you have to buy a DRT cluster ;)

by cluster you mean input shaft??? no need to change the gear itself? what ratio / teeth?
