( APE ) Oil Pump

Messaggio da leggere da cabacita »

Hello again,
Yesterday i took Ape to is previous mechanic to ask him, what changes has he done.
One thing he told and he couldn't answer was, when he bought the 75cc DR cylinder someone told him to turn off oil pump!!

So, because he couldn't give one answer, i ask you:

Why turn off oil pump??
What is it function??
If we use mixture / gasoline, we put oil for differential and clutch, why the oil pump and tank?? Can anyone explain to me?

I still have it there, tank full and connected to somewhere ( probably to the oil pump :D )

I search google, but no answer ( in english ).

Regards,
Nuno

He turned off oil pump because with a cylinder bigger than the original you can seize it.
So you must do the mixture and put in the tank
I hope i have understood what you mean
and so.. braaaap!!!

So what is the main function, with original cylinder?

What do you mean by seize it??

Yes, i use 98 with 2% mixture and put it at the gasoline tank

Never touched the oil tank!!

Thanks for your reply.

I think he wanted to say, that the risk is the seizure of the piston.

You seize a cylinder when the piston get stuck into it. I can't find a way to translate it in portuguese, but if you know what i mean tell me the correct term please.

FICA PRESO / COLADO! :D

So the main function of the oil pump is to lubricate piston and cylinder head, correct?

Will i have any problem running my malossi 112cc, without that lubricate???

Thank you both for your comments and please see my other posts at English discussions.

Nuno

oil pump is installed as comfort when apecar is original (so you have not to make the mixture) but it's not so much precise ,so piston can seize when you mount a more delicate cylinder as 115cc. Well, you remove oil pump and you make mixture (you put the oil into the gasoline - 2%). The piston it's lubrificated
and so.. braaaap!!!

That´s correct!!! thank you for your explanation. I thought extra lub would be necessary.

ok, that was my doubt.

One more question:
where it goes or where it comes from the cable, so i can remove it??

thanks,
nuno
